Hossein Nuri, born in 1954 Iran, is an Iranian painter, dramaturge and filmmaker. He showed interest in painting at elementary school and after finishing elementary studies in Mashad he gained a scholarship to continue studies in Farah Industrial School in Tehran. In 1972 Nuri wrote a play which was a political satire mocking the system and promoting human rights. As a result, Nuri was detained and tortured severely by SAVAK and lost his ability of moving hands and legs. He didn't lose hope and started to hold the brush with his mouth and continued painting. So far Nuri has organized more than a hundred exhibitions in Iran, France, China, Germany, Algeria, Lebanon and Austria.
